This book is somewhat biographical and also includes interesting dynamics between genders in show biz. I love her perspective - brilliantly smart and funny. "If you love Tina Fey, Saturday Night Live (which I grew up on), and 30 Rock (one of the funniest shows on television) then you will appreciate this book. Narrated by Tina Fey, this Grammy nominated unabridged audiobook is the most enjoyable way to enjoy Bossypants! Vastly entertaining and filled with fascinating insights Bossypants is certainly a biography like no other. From single life to marriage, career and motherhood no stone in Tina Fey's life is left unturned in this powerfully funny and uniquely introspective autobiography. Tina also explains how she created the Emmy-winning hit series 30 Rock.

Also detailed is how she managed to become one of SNL's most popular performers, most notably her stint as a Weekend Update co-anchor. Wearing many hats in the entertainment industry, Tina draws from her varied experiences as a writer, comedian, actress and producer to give you the inside scoop on her extremely successful career with humor and humility.īossypants covers a great deal of ground including telling the story of how Tina came to join Saturday Night Live as a writer and later rose through the ranks to become the venerable show's head writer. Tina Fey tells her story as only she could - through humorous anecdotes that deftly combine her trademark razor-sharp wit and brutal honesty. Managing to be both uproariously hilarious as well as insightful, Bossypants is a rare treat in the world of celebrity memoirs. I enjoyed the story about how she came up through the ranks and created 30 Rock, but in the end I just didn't find this one relatable."You're no one until someone calls you bossy." I did like some of the insight to her childhood and family. Then there were other parts that tried to convey a meaningful message but instead seemed to be insensitive to other issues like body dysmorphia, homophobia or fat shaming. There were sections that bordered racist or at least ignorant of how she was feeding into and displaying institutional racist remarks and ideas. Many sections I found uncomfortable and borderline offensive or insensitive. There were moments that I found amusing and some comments about being a working woman in a male dominated field that I found insightful, but that was rare. But as a book written with the intent to inspire young women.

I know many people loved Bossypants and personally I like Tina Fey.

I have read a lot of them, but this one was not for me. Let me start by saying, I love a good memoir.
