Now I can’t remember why it didn’t get five, and I can’t find the review anywhere on my computer, so I guess that will remain a mystery. A loooong time ago, I wrote a review of book one for my own entertainment (because I’m the kind of person who writes book reviews just because they’re fun to write), and I believe I gave it four stars. The book I’m talking about is Vortex, the second book in the Insignia series by S.J.

So please, when I tell you that the book I’m reviewing today might as well have been coated in super glue, that’s how hard it was to put down, that it tricked me into making stupid guesses about what was going to happen at least a dozen times only to prove me wrong in the most dramatic way possible, and that you should read it because you should read it, bear with me. So when I read a book so unbelievably fantastic that these are the only phrases that come to mind, I try to come up with alternatives for them, and my alternatives do not always serve to fully express the terrific brilliance of the novel I have just finished. It’s like the word “awesome” - so overused its impact has been diminished. Now, normally I don’t like to use these phrases, because they drive me nuts when they see them. “It kept me guessing until the very end”.
